To remove road paint from your car, especially heavy accumulations that have dried for several days, a specific method involving petroleum jelly and a pressure wash is recommended.
Removing Heavy, Dried Traffic Paint
If you're dealing with significant amounts of traffic paint that have had time to dry and harden on your vehicle's surface, follow these steps:
- Apply Petroleum Jelly: Obtain petroleum jelly and apply a liberal coating directly onto the dried traffic paint. Ensure the affected areas are thoroughly covered.
- Allow it to Sit: Let the petroleum jelly remain on the paint overnight. This typically means leaving it for 8 to 12 hours to allow it to penetrate and work on softening the dried paint.
- Pressure Wash: After the petroleum jelly has had time to sit, take your vehicle to a pressure car wash.
- Wash Thoroughly: Wash the vehicle at the pressure car wash. The combination of the softening action of the petroleum jelly and the force of the pressure wash should remove most of the traffic paint.
- Repeat if Necessary: If some road paint still remains after the initial wash, repeat the entire procedure from step 1.
This method is specifically effective for stubborn, dried accumulations and utilizes the softening properties of petroleum jelly followed by the cleaning power of a pressure wash.
