How do you install a radiator hose?

Published in Car Maintenance 1 min read

Installing a radiator hose involves several steps, including draining the coolant, removing the old hose, and installing the new one. Here's a breakdown:

  1. Drain the Coolant:

    • Locate the radiator drain plug.
    • Position a pan beneath the radiator hoses to catch the coolant.
    • Open the drain plug and allow the fluid to drain completely.
    • Once the radiator is empty, replace the drain plug.
    • Important: Dispose of old antifreeze properly.
  2. Remove the Old Hose:

    • Loosen the hose clamps on either end of the radiator hose you're replacing.
    • Carefully detach the old hose from the radiator and the engine block.
  3. Install the New Hose:

    • Position the new radiator hose, ensuring it's correctly aligned.
    • Secure the hose clamps tightly on both ends of the new hose.
