What is throttle in manual car?

Published in Car Throttle 1 min read

In a manual car, the throttle, also known as the accelerator or gas pedal, controls the amount of power the engine produces. It is the pedal that the driver uses to increase or decrease engine speed.

Understanding the Throttle Pedal

  • The throttle pedal (0:17) is what the driver uses to control the engine's power output.
  • It's also referred to as the accelerator pedal or the gas pedal (0:17).

How it Works

When you press the throttle, you're essentially telling the engine to produce more power. This is achieved by opening a valve that allows more air and fuel into the engine's cylinders, resulting in increased combustion and, therefore, greater power output. Releasing the pedal reduces the amount of air and fuel, decreasing power.
