Who discovered the cell?

Published in Cell Biology 1 min read

The cell was first discovered by Robert Hooke in 1665. He observed thin slices of cork under a microscope and noticed small, box-like compartments that he named "cells" because they reminded him of the small rooms in a monastery. This discovery was a groundbreaking moment in the history of biology, paving the way for the development of cell theory.
