Published in China Family Policy 1 min read

Previously, having more than two children in China could result in fines and other consequences. However, according to a July 2021 report, this is no longer the case.

According to the reference: "Families in China can now have as many children as they like without facing fines or other consequences."

In summary:

  • Before the change: Families exceeding the limit faced penalties.
  • Now: Families can have any number of children without punishment.

This change occurred after an announcement on May 31st, 2021, that families could have three children, which was then superseded by the allowance of unlimited children later in July 2021.
