To restore your Chrome bookmarks, you'll primarily be importing them from a backup file. Here's how:
-
Open Chrome: Start by launching the Google Chrome browser on your computer.
-
Access the Bookmark Manager: There are a few ways to do this:
- Click the Chrome menu (three vertical dots) in the top-right corner of the browser. Navigate to "Bookmarks" and then select "Bookmark Manager."
- Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut:
Ctrl + Shift + O
(orCmd + Shift + O
on a Mac).
-
Import Bookmarks:
- In the Bookmark Manager, look for the three vertical dots menu icon (usually near the top-right corner or at the top of the page, beside the search bar). Click it.
- Select "Import Bookmarks."
-
Select the HTML File: A file explorer window will open. Navigate to the location where your bookmarks HTML file is saved. Select the file and click "Open." Usually the filename will be named something like 'bookmarks.html'.
-
Bookmarks Restored: Your bookmarks will now be imported back into Chrome. They will likely appear in a new folder on your bookmarks bar or in the other bookmarks folder, depending on how the HTML file was structured.
In Summary: Open Chrome, go to Bookmark Manager, select Import Bookmarks, choose your HTML file, and your bookmarks will be restored.
