To remove a Google account (and its associated email) from Chrome, follow these steps within the Chrome browser itself:
-
Open Chrome Settings: In the top right corner of your Chrome browser, click the three vertical dots (the Chrome menu). From the dropdown menu, select "Settings".
-
Access Profiles: In the Settings menu, look for a section related to "You and Google" or "People". You'll likely see your Google account listed there. Alternatively, you might see "Other Profiles" further down the page.
-
Manage Profiles: If you see "Other Profiles", there should be a gear icon nearby or a link to "Manage other profiles." Click on this.
-
Identify the Account: You'll see a list of profiles. Identify the profile associated with the Google account (and email) you want to remove.
-
Delete the Profile: On the profile you wish to remove, click the three dots (usually located in the top right corner of that profile's tile). A small dropdown menu will appear. Select "Delete."
-
Confirm Deletion: Chrome will ask you to confirm that you want to delete the profile and all its data (bookmarks, history, passwords, etc.). Click "Delete" to confirm.
Important Considerations:
- Deleting a profile is permanent: Be absolutely sure you want to remove the profile, as this action will delete all associated data from that specific profile within Chrome. It doesn't delete the Google account itself.
- Syncing: If the profile you are deleting was syncing data with your Google account, that data will remain in your Google account online unless you specifically delete it from your Google account settings. Deleting the profile only removes it from Chrome.
- Multiple Profiles: Ensure you are deleting the correct profile, especially if you have multiple Chrome profiles.
