How Do I Open All Windows on My Chromebook?

Published in Chromebook Basics 1 min read

You can open and view all windows on your Chromebook by using a simple touchpad gesture.

Using the Touchpad

The easiest way to see all open windows on your Chromebook is to use a three-finger swipe gesture on the touchpad:

  1. Place three fingers on the Chromebook's touchpad.
  2. Swipe either up or down in a single, smooth motion.

This action will activate the overview mode, displaying all your currently open windows as thumbnails. You can then select the window you wish to bring to the forefront.

Alternative Method: Overview Key (if available)

Some Chromebooks have a dedicated "Overview" key (it looks like a rectangle with two vertical lines on either side). Pressing this key will also display all your open windows.

After Viewing All Windows

Once all windows are visible in overview mode:

  • Click on the window you want to use. This will bring that window to the front and close the overview mode.
