You can easily edit a screen capture on your Chromebook using the built-in image editor in the Files app.
Here's how:
-
Open the Files App: Locate and open the "Files" app on your Chromebook. This is where your screenshots are automatically saved.
-
Find Your Screenshot: Typically, screenshots are saved in the "Downloads" folder or a designated "Screenshots" folder within "Downloads."
-
Open the Screenshot: Double-click the screenshot you want to edit to open it.
-
Click the Edit Button: Once the image is open, look for an "Edit" button (often represented by a pencil icon). Click it.
-
Use the Editing Tools: The built-in image editor provides basic tools to annotate your screenshot:
- Pen Tool: Draw freehand lines. You can usually adjust the color and thickness of the line.
- Highlighter Tool: Add semi-transparent highlights to sections of the image. Adjust the color as needed.
- Text Tool: Add text to the screenshot. You can usually select the font, size, and color.
- Crop Tool: Crop unwanted portions of the screenshot.
- Shape Tool: Add shapes like circles, squares and arrows.
-
Edit Your Screenshot: Use the tools to add text, highlights, shapes, or crop the image as desired.
-
Save Your Changes: After you've finished editing, click the "Save" button (or a similar option like "Done" or a checkmark icon). Your changes will be saved to the original screenshot file. Alternatively, you might have the option to "Save as" and create a new file, preserving the original.
