To refresh your Samsung Chromebook (also known as a hard reset), follow these steps:
- Press and hold the Power button.
- While holding the Power button, double-tap the Refresh key (the circular arrow).
- Release the Power button.
This action will typically restart your Chromebook and clear out any temporary issues. This is often useful when the Chromebook is frozen, unresponsive, or experiencing other software glitches.
Important Considerations:
- This process won't delete your files. It's similar to restarting a computer and shouldn't affect any saved data. Your files stored in Google Drive are always safe in the cloud.
- Alternative Method: If the double-tap method isn't working, try holding down the Power button until the Chromebook completely shuts down. Then, press the Power button again to turn it back on. This is a more forceful reset, but still shouldn't erase data.
- Powerwash (Factory Reset): Note that a refresh is different from a Powerwash. A Powerwash performs a factory reset, deleting all local data on your Chromebook and returning it to its original state. Only use a Powerwash if you're selling your Chromebook or experiencing persistent and unresolvable issues.
