How Do I Change the Wi-Fi on Google Chromecast?

Published in Chromecast Connectivity 1 min read

To change the Wi-Fi network your Google Chromecast is connected to, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Settings Menu: From the top right corner of your TV screen (where the Chromecast interface is displayed), select Settings. This is usually represented by a gear or cog icon.

  2. Forget the Current Network: Navigate to the Wi-Fi settings. Locate the name of the Wi-Fi network your Chromecast is currently connected to. Select the network name, and then choose the option to Forget network.

  3. Set Up Chromecast on the New Network: After forgetting the previous network, you'll need to go through the Chromecast setup process again to connect to your new Wi-Fi network. You can do this using the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Chromecast to the new Wi-Fi network.

Essentially, forgetting the old network and re-setting up the Chromecast with the Google Home app on the desired new network achieves the Wi-Fi change.
