Using a ceiling fan brush (or duster) is a simple way to clean your ceiling fan blades. The most common methods are using a dedicated extendable duster or a pillowcase.
Here’s how to use each:
1. Using an Extendable Ceiling Fan Duster:
- Preparation: Extend the duster to reach the ceiling fan. Some dusters have telescoping handles for adjustable lengths.
- Application: Slide the duster onto the fan blade. The brush should encircle the blade.
- Cleaning: Move the duster back and forth along the blade's length. This traps dust and debris within the brush.
- Repeat: Repeat the process for each blade of the ceiling fan.
- Cleaning the Duster: Shake out or vacuum the duster head to remove collected dust.
2. Using a Pillowcase:
- Preparation: Select an old pillowcase you don’t mind getting dusty.
- Application: Slide the pillowcase over an individual fan blade, encasing it completely.
- Cleaning: Press the pillowcase against the top and bottom surfaces of the blade and slowly pull the pillowcase off the blade. The dust will be contained inside the pillowcase.
- Repeat: Repeat for each blade, using a clean section of the pillowcase each time.
- Cleaning the Pillowcase: Take the pillowcase outside and shake it vigorously or wash it in the washing machine.
