How to Use Drip Bags?

Published in Coffee Brewing 2 mins read

Using drip bags for coffee is a quick and convenient way to enjoy a single serving of freshly brewed coffee. Here's how to use them:

  1. Open the Drip Bag: Tear off the top of the drip bag along the dotted line. Be careful not to spill any coffee grounds.

  2. Prepare the Handles: Gently pull out the paper handles on either side of the bag. These are what you'll use to secure the bag to your mug.

  3. Mount onto Your Mug: Place the handles over the edges of your mug, ensuring the drip bag is suspended securely inside. Make sure the bottom of the bag doesn't touch the bottom of the mug.

  4. Slowly Pour Hot Water: Slowly pour hot water (around 200ml or about 6.7 ounces is generally recommended) over the coffee grounds inside the bag. Start with a small amount to allow the grounds to "bloom" (release gases), then continue pouring in slow, even intervals. The ideal water temperature is usually between 195-205°F (90-96°C).

  5. Allow to Drip and Remove: Let the water drip completely through the coffee grounds. Once the dripping has stopped, carefully remove the drip bag from your mug.

  6. Enjoy Your Coffee! Your freshly brewed single-serving coffee is now ready to enjoy!

Essentially, drip bags provide a simple pour-over experience without requiring any special equipment like a pour-over stand or filter. They're perfect for travel, camping, or anyone who wants a quick and easy cup of coffee.
