ADP started as a manual payroll processing business called Automatic Payrolls, Inc.
In 1949, Henry Taub founded Automatic Payrolls, Inc. with his brother Joe Taub (History). Frank Lautenberg later joined them in the company's early stages. In 1957, Lautenberg became a full partner after demonstrating success in sales and marketing (History).
