You can put used tea bags in a compost bin, trash can, or even directly into your garden.
Depending on the composition of the tea bag itself, your disposal options vary:
- Compost Bin: Many tea bags are made with compostable materials like paper or plant-based fibers. If your tea bags are compostable, you can add them directly to your compost bin. Even if the bag isn't fully compostable, you can often tear it open and compost just the tea leaves themselves.
- Trash Can: If the tea bag contains plastic or other non-compostable materials, it should be discarded in the trash.
- Garden: Tea leaves are a great source of nutrients for your garden. You can bury used tea bags (if compostable) or just the leaves near your plants to help them grow and even suppress weeds.
