How much memory does my computer have?

Published in Computer Memory 1 min read

To find out how much memory (RAM) your computer has, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the "This PC" or "Computer" icon on your desktop or in File Explorer.
  2. Select "Properties" from the context menu.

A window will open displaying information about your computer. Under the "System" section, you'll find a line that reads "Installed RAM:" followed by the amount of memory. This is the total amount of RAM installed in your computer, usually measured in gigabytes (GB).

For example, it might say "Installed RAM: 8.00 GB (7.88 GB usable)". This means you have 8 GB of RAM installed, but a small portion (0.12 GB in this example) is reserved for hardware or the operating system and is not available for general use.

Essentially, the number listed beside "Installed RAM:" indicates the total RAM available.
