The full form of PDA is Personal Digital Assistant.
PDAs were handheld computers that provided a variety of functionalities, including:
- Contact management: Storing and organizing contact information.
- Calendar scheduling: Managing appointments and schedules.
- Note-taking: Creating and storing notes.
- Task management: Tracking tasks and to-do lists.
- Internet access: Browsing the web and accessing email (often via add-on accessories).
While PDAs were popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s, they have largely been replaced by smartphones, which offer similar functionality in addition to cellular connectivity and app ecosystems. Some examples of early PDAs include the Apple Newton and the PalmPilot. These devices paved the way for the mobile computing we have today.
