Creating a Confluence space template allows you to quickly generate consistent pages within a specific space by providing a predefined structure and content.
Here are the steps to create a new template that will be available only within a particular Confluence Cloud space:
Steps to Begin Creating a Space Template
Follow these steps to initiate the template creation process within your chosen Confluence space:
- Go to the space in Confluence Cloud.
- Navigate to the specific Confluence space where you want your new template to reside and be usable.
- Select Space settings from the sidebar.
- In the navigation sidebar of your space, locate and click on Space settings.
- Select Templates from the Look and feel card.
- Within the Space settings screen, find the section or 'card' titled Look and feel.
- Underneath this section, select the Templates option.
- Select Create new template.
- On the Templates page, you will see a list of existing space templates (if any) and options to manage them.
- Click the Create new template button to open the template editor.
Designing Your Template
After completing step 4, you will enter the template editor. Here, you can:
- Give your template a clear and descriptive Name.
- Add the content and structure you want pages created from this template to have. This can include text, tables, images, macros, and placeholder text (e.g.,
@mention
or specific variables). - Format the layout using sections and columns.
- Save your template once you are finished editing.
Once saved, your new template will appear in the list of space templates and will be an option when users choose to create a new page within that specific space.
Using space templates streamlines content creation and helps ensure uniformity across related documentation within a team or project space.
