How do I copy a gradient in CorelDRAW?

Published in CorelDraw Graphics 2 mins read

You can copy a gradient fill from one object to another in CorelDRAW using the Copy Fill option. Here's how:

  1. Select the object you want to apply the gradient to. This is the object that will receive the gradient.
  2. On the property bar (usually at the top of the screen), locate and click the "Copy Fill" icon. The exact appearance of this icon might vary slightly depending on your CorelDRAW version, but it generally represents copying attributes.
  3. Your cursor will change into an arrow. This arrow indicates that CorelDRAW is waiting for you to select the source fill.
  4. Click on the object that has the gradient you want to copy. By clicking on this object, you're telling CorelDRAW to copy the gradient fill from this object.
  5. The selected object (from step 1) will now have the gradient fill. The gradient is copied and applied to the destination object.

Further Considerations:

  • After applying the gradient, you can adjust its properties (angle, colors, midpoints, etc.) on the receiving object without affecting the original gradient. This is because you've created a copy, not a linked instance.
  • If you need to copy other object properties as well (e.g., outline, size, position), consider using the "Copy Properties From" feature in the Edit menu, which offers more comprehensive copying options.
  • The "Eyedropper Tool" can also be used to sample the gradient fill and then apply it to another object. Select the Eyedropper tool, sample the gradient, and then click on the target object.
