What is the jaw nerve called?

Published in Cranial Nerve 1 min read

The jaw nerve is called the mandibular nerve. It is the largest branch of the trigeminal nerve, also known as cranial nerve V or CN V. This nerve exits the skull through the foramen ovale and carries both sensory and motor signals.

The mandibular nerve is responsible for sensory information from the lower third of the face, including the mouth floor, jaw, and tongue. It also controls the muscles of mastication (chewing).
