A cricket pitch is also called a track or deck.
The cricket pitch is the rectangular central area of the cricket field where most of the action takes place. This area, which includes the space for the pitches, is also referred to as the square. Pitches are generally oriented north-south to avoid the afternoon sun being directly in a batter's eyes.
