How to Fill a Page on Cricut Design Space?

Published in Cricut Design Space 2 mins read

To fill a page (or mat) on Cricut Design Space with copies of your project or design, you can utilize the "Project Copies" feature found in the upper left corner after clicking "Make It."

Filling your mat maximizes material usage, especially when cutting multiples of the same design. Cricut Design Space provides a simple way to do this before sending your project to the machine.

Steps to Fill Your Mat with Copies

Once your design is ready on the Canvas, follow these steps:

  1. Click the "Make It" button. This takes you to the Prepare screen where your designs are arranged on virtual mats.
  2. Observe the virtual mat display. By default, you will see one copy of your project or the number of copies you set on the canvas.
  3. Look at the upper left corner of the screen. As shown in the reference, you will see a section that says "Project Copies".
  4. Use the arrow buttons or type directly into the box next to "Project Copies" to increase the number of copies.
  5. After changing the number, click "Apply".
  6. Cricut Design Space will automatically arrange the specified number of copies onto the mat(s), attempting to optimize placement to fit as many as possible on a single mat and adding additional mats if needed.

Example: If you have a small shape and want to cut 20 of them to fill a standard 12x12 mat, you would go to the "Make It" screen, find "Project Copies" in the upper left corner, change the number to 20, and click "Apply". Design Space will then fill the mat with 20 copies of that shape.

This method is particularly useful for:

  • Cutting multiple stickers
  • Creating several identical iron-on transfers
  • Producing many small cardstock elements
  • Batching production of popular designs

By adjusting the "Project Copies" number, you can easily control how many items you want to cut and let Design Space help you lay them out efficiently on your mat.
