How to thread a cross stitch needle?

Published in Cross Stitch Basics 1 min read

Threading a cross stitch needle is a simple process that ensures you're ready to start stitching.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Prepare the thread: Cut the desired length of floss and separate the strands as needed for your pattern.

  2. Prepare the thread end: According to the reference, to thread a cross stitch needle, "get just the tip of the thread in my fingers [and] line it up with the eye of the needle."

  3. Thread the Needle:

    • Hold the needle in one hand and the prepared thread end in the other.
    • Insert the tip of the thread through the eye of the needle.
    • "Just push it through so you'll want a couple inches sticking out here."
