Does CSF have protein?

Published in CSF Composition 1 min read

Yes, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) does contain protein, but normally in very small amounts.

The spinal fluid normally contains very little protein because serum proteins are large molecules that do not easily cross the blood-brain barrier. According to provided references, most of the protein that is present is albumin (29-Apr-2024).
