Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is primarily produced in the choroid plexi.
The choroid plexi, found within the ventricles of the brain, are the main sites of CSF production. Specifically, these are located in the:
- Lateral ventricles
- Third ventricle
- Fourth ventricle
According to research, the choroid plexi are composed of:
- Leaky epithelial cells
- A basement membrane
- Connective tissue
- Fenestrated capillaries
These components facilitate the production of CSF.
