How Do You Thicken Homemade Curd?

Published in Curd Making 1 min read

To thicken homemade curd, you can use gelatin.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Bloom the Gelatin: Slightly heat the curd. Bloom 2 grams (approximately 1 sheet) of gelatin in cold water according to the package instructions. This process involves softening the gelatin in cold water for about 5-10 minutes.

  2. Dissolve the Gelatin: Heat the curd slightly. Add the bloomed gelatin to the heated curd.

  3. Stir Thoroughly: Stir the gelatin into the curd until it is completely dissolved. Make sure there are no lumps.

  4. Cool and Set: Let the curd cool to room temperature and then refrigerate it until it sets and thickens to your desired consistency. This might take a few hours.
