How do I delete a data source in Customer Insights?

Published in Customer Insights 2 mins read

To delete a data source in Customer Insights, especially one that's already mapped, you'll need to first remove any dependencies it has with entities and then proceed with the deletion. Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Select Entities for Editing/Removal: Navigate to the relevant data source. Look for an option like "Select" (the specific wording may vary). This allows you to choose the entities associated with the data source that you want to modify or remove.

  2. Untick Entities (Except Matched Ones): Within the selection of entities, untick the boxes next to the entities you want to disassociate from the data source. Important: You cannot untick entities that have already been used for matching or merging processes. These entities must be handled differently, often requiring you to adjust the matching or merging configuration first.

  3. Save Changes: After unticking the desired entities, save the changes you've made. This step dissociates those selected entities from the data source.

  4. Delete the Data Source: Once you've removed the necessary entity dependencies, go to the "Data Sources" section, usually found on the left-hand navigation bar under "Data." Locate the data source you wish to delete, and you should now be able to proceed with the deletion. There's typically a delete icon (like a trash can) or a "Delete" option associated with the data source.

In Summary: You need to first remove the association between the data source and its mapped entities (excluding those involved in matching) before you can successfully delete the data source itself.
