How Do I Change Clips in DaVinci Resolve?

Published in DaVinci Resolve Editing 1 min read

To replace a clip in DaVinci Resolve while maintaining its length and existing edits, use the "Replace" function.

Steps to Replace a Clip:

  1. Locate the "Replace" Icon: In the timeline, select the clip you want to replace. Look for the "Replace" icon (often visually represented as an overlapping clip icon).
  2. Click the "Replace" Icon: Click the "Replace" icon.
  3. Select the New Clip: Choose the new clip you want to use from your media pool.
  4. The Clip is Replaced: DaVinci Resolve replaces the original clip with the new clip, preserving the original clip's duration and any applied effects or edits.

This method ensures a seamless transition, maintaining your existing cuts and adjustments while swapping out the video content.
