Is milia hard or soft?

Published in Dermatology 1 min read

Milia are hard.

Milia are small, white or yellowish bumps that appear on the skin, often around the eyes, nose, cheeks, and forehead. These bumps are caused by keratin, a protein, becoming trapped beneath the surface of the skin. Because of the accumulated keratin, milia feel firm or hard to the touch. They are often described as feeling like tiny grains of sand under the skin. While small – typically 1 to 2 millimeters in diameter – the hardened keratin creates this distinct texture.
