How Do I Turn Off Find My iPhone?

Published in Device Security 2 mins read

Turning off Find My iPhone is simple and removes Activation Lock. Here's how:

Steps to Disable Find My iPhone

  1. Open Settings: Locate and tap the "Settings" app icon on your iPhone or iPad's home screen. It usually looks like a gray gear.

  2. Access Your Apple ID: Tap on your name at the top of the Settings menu. This will bring you to your Apple ID settings page.

  3. Locate Find My: Scroll down and tap on "Find My".

  4. Disable Find My iPhone/iPad: Tap on "Find My [device]" (e.g., Find My iPhone). This will open the Find My app's settings for your device.

  5. Turn Off Find My: Toggle the switch next to "Find My [device]" to the OFF position. You will likely be prompted to enter your passcode to confirm.

Important Note: Turning off Find My iPhone also disables Activation Lock. This means that if you lose your device, anyone who finds it won't be able to activate it without your Apple ID and password.

Understanding Activation Lock

Activation Lock is a security feature linked to Find My. When you turn off Find My, Activation Lock is automatically deactivated. This prevents unauthorized use of your device even if it's been erased.
