How Do You Install a Dispenser?

Published in Dispenser Installation 2 mins read

Installing a dispenser, particularly those designed for adhesive mounting, involves careful preparation and precise application of the mounting materials.

Here's a guide based on common methods, incorporating key steps for successful installation.

Preparing for Installation

Before you begin, ensure your mounting surface is ready.

  • The wall surface where the unit is to be mounted must be CLEAN and DRY! Any dirt, dust, soap scum, or moisture will prevent the adhesive from properly bonding.
  • Once the wall is clean and dry, determine the exact location for your Dispenser. Consider the height, accessibility, and aesthetic placement in your bathroom or kitchen. Use a pencil to lightly mark the desired spot.

Applying Adhesives

Adhesive mounting often utilizes a combination of double-faced tape and silicone sealant for a strong, waterproof bond.

  1. Apply double-faced tape to the designated non-textured targets on the back of the unit or the mounting bracket. This tape provides immediate holding power while the silicone cures.
  2. Run a wavy bead of silicone on the entire textured area of the mounting bracket or the back of the unit designed to meet the wall. The silicone fills irregularities in the wall surface and creates a long-lasting, waterproof seal.
Adhesive Type Application Area Purpose
Double-faced tape Non-textured targets Initial hold, positioning
Silicone bead Entire textured area Long-term bond, waterproof seal

Mounting the Dispenser

With the adhesives applied, it's time to mount the dispenser.

  • Carefully align the dispenser or mounting bracket with your marked location on the clean, dry wall.
  • Press the unit firmly against the wall, applying even pressure across the entire surface for at least 30 seconds to ensure good contact with both the tape and the silicone.

Allow adequate time for the silicone to cure before placing heavy bottles in the dispenser. Drying times can vary based on humidity and ventilation, but often require 12-24 hours.
