How do you set the maximum height on a dropper post?

Published in Dropper Post Operation 2 mins read

You don't directly set the maximum height on a dropper post; it's a fixed value determined by the post's design. The post extends to its full design height when activated.

Here's how dropper posts work according to the reference:

  • To lower the seat post, hold the lever, push down on the post, let go and the post will stay down.
  • To raise the post, push the lever again while standing up and the post will extend to full ride height.

The maximum height of a dropper post is a specification of the model and is not adjustable. The dropper post functions by allowing the rider to lower their saddle with an actuation of a lever and return to full height with another actuation.

Feature Description
Maximum Height Fixed, set by manufacturer specifications; cannot be adjusted.
Lowering the Post Hold lever, push down.
Raising the Post Push lever while standing, extends to full height.
Activation Remote lever using a cable, hydraulic hose or wireless connection.

The height you see when the post is fully extended is its maximum height. You can lower it to any position below that but it will always return to the designed maximum.
