Which layer is hard?

Published in Earth's Layers 1 min read

The Lithosphere is the hard layer of the Earth. The word "litho" means "rocky", so the lithosphere is the rigid outermost layer of the Earth. It comprises the crust and the upper mantle.

The lithosphere is made up of solid rock and is broken into large pieces called tectonic plates. These plates move slowly over time, causing earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
