The Estimated Index Value (EIV) is a simplified version of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) calculated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). It uses an empirical regression line based on the efficiency of ships built between 1999 and 2009. This regression line serves as a reference line. In other words, the EIV is a calculated value based on historical ship efficiency data that provides a baseline for assessing the energy efficiency of new ships.
