How do you use a magnetic frame?

Published in Embroidery Frames 2 mins read

Using a magnetic frame typically involves separating the two magnetic components, positioning your fabric or item between them, and allowing the magnets to clamp together, securing the item. Here's a breakdown of how to use one, particularly in the context of embroidery:

  • Separate the Frame Components: Magnetic frames usually consist of two parts: a top ring (or frame) and a bottom ring (or frame). Separate these two.

  • Position the Fabric: Lay your fabric piece over the bottom ring or frame. Center the area you want to work on within the frame's opening.

  • Attach the Top Magnet: Carefully align the top magnetic ring or frame over the fabric and the bottom ring. The magnets will attract and clamp the fabric securely between them.

  • Finger Placement: When attaching the top magnet, be mindful of where you place your fingers. Keep your fingers along the outer edge of the top magnet to avoid them getting pinched between the magnets.

  • Ensure Secure Hold: Check that the fabric is held taut and securely by the magnetic force. Readjust if necessary.

  • Embroidery: Once the fabric is secure within the magnetic frame, you can start your embroidery project. The magnetic hold provides stability and keeps the fabric taut during the stitching process.

  • Removal: After embroidery, carefully separate the magnetic rings to release your fabric.
