The pineal gland, also known as the pineal body, conarium, or epiphysis cerebri, is the smallest gland in the human body. It is located in the vertebrate brain, near the center. A healthy pineal gland is about the size of a grain of rice and is shaped like a pinecone.
The pineal gland is part of the endocrine system, which is a collection of glands that produce and release hormones. These hormones regulate many important bodily functions, such as growth, metabolism, and reproduction.
Note: While the sublingual gland is considered the smallest of the major salivary glands, the pineal gland is the smallest gland overall in the human body.
