Enabling and Accessing Legacy Data Import Wizards in Excel

To import data using the Legacy Wizards in Excel, you first need to enable them through the Excel Options, and then access them from the Data tab.

The Legacy Wizards offer specialized ways to import data from sources like text files, external databases, and XML files, providing more control over the import process. To use them, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the File tab in Excel.
  2. Select Options from the left-hand menu.
  3. In the Excel Options dialog box, choose Data from the left-hand pane.
  4. Under the "Show Legacy Data Import Wizards" section, select one or more wizards you want to enable access to from the Excel ribbon. You can choose from options like:
    • From Text (Legacy)
    • From Web (Legacy)
    • From Access (Legacy)
    • From SQL Server (Legacy)
    • From SQL Server Analysis Services (Legacy)
    • From OData Feed (Legacy)
    • From XML Data Import (Legacy)
  5. Click OK to close the Excel Options window.
  6. Close the workbook and then reopen it to see the activate the wizards.
