How Do You Transfer Lenses?

Published in Eyeglass Lenses 2 mins read

Transferring lenses into new frames, specifically frames that do not require heat for insertion, involves a straightforward process. Following the correct steps ensures the lens is securely fitted without damaging the frame or the lens itself.

Inserting Lenses into Frames Without Heat

For eyeglass frames that are designed to accommodate lenses without the need for heat manipulation, the insertion process is simple and can often be done manually.

The steps for this method are as follows:

  1. Align the lens: Position the lens correctly. For frames not requiring heat, simply align the lens with the frame's groove (or bevel) from the back.
  2. Pop the lens into place: Once aligned, the lens needs to be seated within the frame.
  3. Secure the fit: To ensure the lens is fully seated and secure, you can use your thumbs to press on the top and bottom of the lens until it clicks into place.

This method allows the lens to snap directly into the frame's channel or groove. It's a common technique for many plastic or certain types of flexible frames where the material has enough give to allow the lens to pop in without being heated.
