How to multitask FaceTime?

Published in FaceTime Multitasking 2 mins read

You can multitask during a FaceTime call primarily by using the Picture-in-picture feature on your device.

Utilizing Picture-in-picture for Multitasking

Picture in Picture allows you to continue viewing your call while multitasking. This feature shrinks your FaceTime call into a small window that floats over other apps, letting you use your device for other tasks without ending your conversation.

Here's how to activate Picture-in-picture during a FaceTime call:

  1. Start your FaceTime call: Initiate or join a call as you normally would.
  2. Activate Picture-in-picture: While you are active in the FaceTime call, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
  3. View the floating window: Your call will automatically appear as a Picture-in-picture window in the corner of the screen.

Once the FaceTime window is in Picture-in-picture mode, you can then open and use other applications on your device. The video call continues in the small window, allowing you to browse the web, check emails, or use other apps simultaneously. You can often drag this small video window to different corners of the screen to get it out of the way of what you're doing.
