Darwin's wife was Emma Darwin (née Wedgwood).
Emma Wedgwood Darwin, born in 1808, was Charles Darwin's first cousin and later became his wife. She was the eighth and youngest child of Josiah Wedgwood II (of Wedgwood pottery fame) and Bessy Allen. Their marriage took place on January 29, 1839, at Maer Hall in Staffordshire, England. Emma was known for her strong religious beliefs, which sometimes contrasted with Charles's evolving scientific views, particularly his theory of evolution by natural selection. Despite their differing perspectives, they maintained a loving and supportive relationship throughout their marriage. They had ten children together. Emma played a significant role in managing their household and supporting Charles's work. She died in 1896, fourteen years after Charles.
