How to Add Collaborators to a Team in Figma

Published in Figma Collaboration 2 mins read

Adding collaborators to your Figma team allows others to access and work on projects and files within that team. The process typically involves inviting them via their email address directly from the team page.

Step-by-Step Guide to Inviting Team Collaborators

Follow these simple steps to add a new member to your Figma team:

  1. Open the team page in the file browser. Navigate to the main Figma file browser interface and locate the specific team you want to add collaborators to. Click on the team name to open its page.
  2. Click Share in the top-right corner. Look for the Share button, usually located in the upper right-hand corner of the team page interface. Clicking this button will open the invitation dialog.
  3. Enter their email address in the invite field. In the dialog that appears, find the field where you can input email addresses. Type the email address of the person you wish to invite. You can often add multiple email addresses here.
  4. Click to select their permissions. Before sending the invite, you need to define the level of access the new collaborator will have. Click on the permissions dropdown next to the email field (or their name if they are an existing user).
    • Permissions determine what actions the collaborator can perform within the team's projects and files (e.g., view only, edit, manage team settings). Choose the appropriate permission level for the new member.
  5. Click Send invite to send an email invitation to their address. Once you've entered the email address(es) and selected the permission level, click the Send invite button. Figma will then send an email invitation to the specified address(es). The recipient must accept the invitation from the email to join your team.

By following these steps, you can effectively invite new members to collaborate within your Figma team workspace.
