How to Crop a Vector on Figma?

Published in Figma Design 2 mins read

To crop a vector image in Figma, follow these simple steps:

  1. Select the Vector: Click on the vector object you want to crop within your Figma design.

  2. Access the Fill Menu: In the right sidebar, under the "Design" tab, locate the "Fill" section. If the vector has a fill, you'll see a colored square or an image thumbnail next to the word "Fill."

  3. Open the Image Options: Click on the image thumbnail (if the fill is an image) or add an image fill if one doesn't exist.

  4. Select Crop Mode: Within the image options that appear, find the dropdown menu (it might initially say "Fill," "Fit," "Tile," etc.). Click this dropdown.

  5. Choose 'Crop': From the dropdown menu, select the "Crop" option.

  6. Adjust the Crop Area: Drag the handles that appear around the image to define the crop area. Only the portion of the image within this area will be visible.

  7. Finalize the Crop: Click outside the cropping area, or press the Enter/Return key, to apply the crop.

Now, your vector object will only display the cropped portion of the image used as a fill.
