You can export elements in Figma by accessing the File menu, reviewing your selections in the export modal, and confirming the export.
Exporting assets from your Figma design file is a straightforward process, especially when you have multiple elements ready with their export settings defined.
Here are the steps involved based on a common workflow:
-
Initiate Export: To begin the export process from the menu, you need to navigate through the main application options. Click the Main menu and select File > Export from the options. This action opens the Export modal window.
-
Review Selections: Once the Export modal appears, it acts as a central hub for your export-ready items. The Export modal displays all the selections with export settings applied. This gives you a clear overview of everything that Figma is prepared to export.
-
Refine Your Export Batch: Sometimes you might have multiple items with export settings, but you only want to export a subset of them at this moment. Within the modal, you can easily manage which items are included in the final export. Uncheck the box next to any selections you don't want to export. This allows you to quickly deselect unwanted elements.
-
Finalize Export: After reviewing and refining the list of items in the modal, the final step is to trigger the download of your selected assets. Click Export to export the selected assets. Figma will then process the chosen elements and download them to your computer based on the export settings (like format, scale, etc.) that were previously applied to the layers or frames.
This method is particularly useful when you've already set up export properties for various layers, groups, or frames within your design and want to export them all at once or pick and choose from the list.
