How do you copy and paste the layout grid in Figma?

Published in Figma Layout Grids 1 min read

To copy and paste a layout grid in Figma, first copy the layout grid from one frame or object, and then paste it onto another. Here's how:

  1. Copy the Layout Grid: Select the frame or object that already has the layout grid you want to copy. Navigate to the "Layout Grid" section in the right-hand panel (under the "Design" tab). Click the grid icon. Hover over the layout grid settings you want to copy (e.g., the style name if you have named styles, or simply "Layout Grid" if it's a default grid), right-click, and select "Copy."

  2. Paste the Layout Grid: Select the frame or object where you want to apply the layout grid. Then, use the appropriate keyboard shortcut:

    • Mac: ⌘ Command + V
    • Windows: Ctrl + V

That's it! The layout grid from the first object will now be applied to the selected object.
