How Long Does a Rifle Bullet Last?

Published in Firearms Ammunition 1 min read

A rifle bullet's lifespan largely depends on its type and storage conditions.

In optimal, cool, and dry storage conditions, full metal jacket (FMJ) bullets can remain viable for up to 10 years without significant performance degradation. Proper ammunition storage practices can potentially extend this lifespan. However, jacketed soft point (JSP) bullets, due to their exposed lead tips, generally have a shorter shelf life.
