How do I export bookmarks in Firefox?

Published in Firefox Bookmarks 2 mins read

Exporting your Firefox bookmarks is a straightforward process. Here's how you do it:

  1. Access the Bookmarks Library: Click on the "Bookmarks" menu in the Firefox menu bar (or the three horizontal lines menu in the top right corner, then "Bookmarks"). Then, select "Manage Bookmarks" or "Show All Bookmarks" at the bottom of the menu. This will open the Library window.

  2. Open the Import and Backup Menu: In the Library window, click on the "Import and Backup" button in the toolbar.

  3. Choose Export to HTML: From the drop-down menu, select "Export Bookmarks to HTML…".

  4. Choose a Location and Save: In the "Export Bookmarks File" window, select a location on your computer where you want to save the bookmarks file. The file will be saved as an HTML file (usually named something like "bookmarks.html" or "bookmarks_date.html"). You can rename the file if you wish, but be sure to keep the ".html" extension.

  5. Click Save: Click the "Save" button to save your bookmarks file.

Your bookmarks are now exported and saved as an HTML file, which can be imported into another browser or used as a backup. This file contains all your bookmarks in a format that's easily readable by other browsers, allowing for seamless transfer.
