How do I open a password in Firefox?

Published in Firefox Passwords 2 mins read

To view your saved passwords in Firefox, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click the hamburger menu: This is located at the top right corner of the Firefox window. It's represented by three horizontal lines.
  3. Select "Passwords." A new tab or window will open, displaying your saved logins.

Inside the "Passwords" section, you'll see a list of websites and their corresponding usernames. The passwords themselves are usually hidden for security. To reveal a specific password:

  1. Find the website you want to view the password for.
  2. Click the eye icon (usually located to the right of the hidden password).
  3. You may be prompted to enter your computer's login password for verification. This is a security measure to prevent unauthorized access.

Once you've entered your login credentials (if prompted), the password for the selected website will be displayed.

Important Security Notes:

  • Be mindful of who is around when you reveal a password.
  • Avoid storing extremely sensitive passwords (e.g., banking passwords) in your browser if you have security concerns. Consider using a dedicated password manager instead.
  • Keep your Firefox browser updated to the latest version to ensure you have the latest security features and protections.
