You can easily activate dark mode in Firefox by selecting the built-in Dark theme from the browser's appearance settings.
Firefox includes a few default themes that allow you to quickly change the overall look of the browser interface, including a dedicated Dark theme. This changes elements like toolbars, menus, and background colors to a darker palette, which can be easier on the eyes, especially in low-light conditions.
Steps to Enable Firefox Dark Mode
To switch your Firefox theme to Dark, follow these simple steps:
- Open the Firefox Menu: Click the menu button (represented by three horizontal lines) located in the top right corner of your Firefox window.
- Go to Add-ons and Themes: In the drop-down menu that appears, click on "Add-ons and themes". This will open a new tab where you can manage your browser's extensions, themes, and plugins.
- Navigate to Themes: On the left side of the add-ons page, you will see a navigation menu. Click on "Themes".
- Select the Dark Theme: You will see a list of installed themes. Among the handful of pre-installed themes, you will find options like Dark, Light, and System Default. Find the "Dark" theme and click its "Enable" button if it's not already active.
Once enabled, Firefox will immediately apply the Dark theme, giving your browser a sleek, darker appearance.
If you later decide you prefer a different look, you can return to this same "Themes" section and select another theme, such as "Light" for a standard bright interface or "System Default" which makes Firefox match your operating system's theme preference.
