Published in Firewall Management 1 min read

Here's how to disable the Windows Firewall:

Disabling your firewall can leave your system vulnerable to threats, so proceed with caution and only do so if you understand the risks and have alternative security measures in place.

Steps to Disable Windows Firewall

Follow these steps to turn off the Windows Firewall:

  1. Open Control Panel: Click the Start button and select "Control Panel".
  2. Navigate to Windows Firewall: Go to "System and Security" and then click on "Windows Firewall".
  3. Access Firewall Settings: In the Windows Firewall window, select "Turn Windows Firewall on or off".
  4. Disable the Firewall:
    • Select "Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended)" for both:
      • Home or work (private) network location settings.
      • Public network location settings.
  5. Confirm Changes: Click "OK" to save your changes.

Warning: Disabling the firewall makes your computer more vulnerable to malware and network attacks. Only disable it if absolutely necessary and ensure you have other security measures in place. Re-enable the firewall as soon as possible.
