Hans Sloane, an Anglo-Irish botanist, is credited with inventing chocolate milk.
Sloane's contribution stems from his time in Jamaica during the 17th century. He found the local beverage of cacao mixed with water unpalatable. To improve the taste, he added milk, creating a more palatable drink. This improved recipe is considered by many to be the origin of chocolate milk.
While Sloane gets the credit for the idea of adding milk to chocolate, the industrialization and mass production of chocolate milk as we know it today came much later.
It's important to note that while Sloane developed a version of chocolate milk, the widespread availability and consumption of chocolate milk as a commercial product occurred much later, with advancements in food processing and distribution.
